Production of inoculant mixtures for molten metals comprises: (i) casting a molded part; (ii) measuring the starting parameters; (iii) measuring the solidification behavior of the molded part; (iv) collecting the measuring data in a computer system; (v) calculating an inoculant mixture; (vi) controlling the manufacture of the mixture by weighing, dosing and mixing the mixture components; and (vii) adding the mixture to the melt. An Independent claim is also included for a device for producing inoculant mixtures for molten metals comprising a casting position (1), a container (4) for the inoculant mixture, further containers (5, 6, 7) for the inoculant, a weighing and dosing device (8), an inoculant mixture mixer (9), an inoculant addition device (2), a thermoanalysis system (14) for molten metal and a computer system (11).
