ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An electric double layer capacitor(ELDC) and method for manufacturing the same is provided to increase electrode density and reduce resistance. CONSTITUTION: An ELDC comprises an electrode which is comprised of an activated carbon powder, conductive material, and a binder consisting of butadiene family copolymer and polysaccharide family polymer, and which adheres the activated carbon powder and the conductive material to a collector. The binder contains butadiene-styrene 1 to 7 weight% and carboxy methyl cellulose 1 to 7 weight% with respect to the electrode. A method comprises the steps of preparing a binder by mixing butadiene family copolymer and polysaccharide family polymer; making a mixture by mixing activated carbon powder, conductive material and the binder prepared in the previous step; and forming an electrode by coating the mixture to a collector.
