Fuel cell membrane (10) has two outer catalytically active layers (1, 2) and a middle layer (3) which is selectively permeable for protons. Preferred Features: The middle layer is made of a composite material containing a carrier material (8) capable of transporting protons, and a second material (9) selectively permeable for protons and impermeable for exclusion materials and arranged in the carrier material so that diffusion from the exclusion materials through the middle layer is strongly reduced or stopped. The second material is made from palladium, tantalum, niobium or vanadium or their alloys. |
