Cleaning gels producing heat of hydration on mixing with water and especially for use on the skin, contain water-miscible hydroxy compounds, surfactants, salts of negative solution enthalpy and thickeners

The gels comprise water-miscible OH compounds which are glycols, glycol ethers, 2-6C polyols and/or polyalkyleneglycols of average mol., anionic, zwitterionic, ampholytic or nonionic surfactants, dispersed, particulate water-soluble salts of negative solution enthalpy in water, and carrier-dissolved water-soluble thickeners or carrier-dispersed particulate thickeners. The gels comprise by wt.: (A) water-miscible OH compounds which are glycols, glycol ethers, 2-6C polyols and/or polyalkyleneglycols of average mol. wt. up to 1,000 (/- 40%); (B) anionic, zwitterionic, ampholytic or nonionic surfactants (/- 5%); (C) dispersed, particulate water-soluble salts of negative solution enthalpy in water (/- 5%); and (D) carrier-dissolved water-soluble thickeners (/- 0.1%) or carrier-dispersed particulate thickeners (/- 1%).
