The sensor has a sensor head for generating sensor signals and is divided into an attachment section (1) containing the sensor head and a connected electronic section (2) with at least one sensor signal evaluation unit and a power supply. The sensor signals pass from the attachment section to the electronic section via electrical contacts or wirelessly. The electronic section contains a modulator/encoder and a sensor signal radio transmitter. Independent claims are also included for the following: a modular system for building proximity sensors.
