Process for joining two metals, especially for fixing a body (101) made from hard metal to a metallic base body (110) comprises: (i) surrounding the metal and/or hard metal to be applied to the base body with a foil made from copper or copper alloy; (ii) partially applying a soft sheet (103) around the foil; and (iii) inserting the body with foil and sheet into a component (113). Preferred Features: The hard metal body is made from tungsten carbide having cobalt or iron as binder. The foil is made from copper. The component is applied by build-up welding.
