The binding wire (1) is coiled in sections to form individual bar-shaped wire coils (2). The winding axis about which the wire is coiled, extends mainly at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the bar shape. The length of a wire coil in longitudinal direction is at least four times that of its max. dimension at right angles to that direction. The coils are wound on a plate-shaped winding core (10) and have a mainly rectangular cross section.
