PURPOSE: Line and method are provided to manufacture a hot rolled steel plate using a thickness directional board press in which sheet bars or slabs are not bonded, but long sheet bars are manufactured, and line and method for pressing a board in a thickness direction for use in the line and the method are provided. CONSTITUTION: In a hot rolled steel plate manufacturing line in which a roughing process equipment(2) reducing a thickness of a hot rolled slab(20) casted by a continuous casting machine(1) so as to obtain a sheet bar(20A), finishing rolling mills(3) obtaining a hot rolled steel tape having a certain thickness by rolling the sheet bar obtained in the roughing process equipment and coilers(5a,5b) coiling the hot rolled steel tape are arranged in order, the line for manufacturing a hot rolled steel plate using a thickness directional board press is characterized in that the roughing process equipment(2) is equipped with a casting process means using a pair of dies(6) having a tapered portion at the entrance side and a parallel portion at the exit side of the thickness reduction processing means at least as a part of a thickness reduction processing means and a width reduction means(9) installed at the upper part of the thickness reduction processing means.
