Process for cleaning biogas comprises scrubbing the gas with a scrubbing oil to remove trace components, e.g. silicon compounds; and chemically converting, especially combusting, the scrubbing oil charged with the trace components. An independent claim is also included for a biogas scrubbing plant comprising a biogas feed (4) and a scrubbing oil feed (5). The scrubbing oil is finely divided on an exchange sieve (11a, 11b, 11c) through which the biogas flows. Preferred Features: Siloxanes are washed out. The scrubbing oil is diesel oil and/or heating oil. The scrubbing oil is introduced counter currently compared to the biogas. The volume of the scrubbing oil is regulated independently of the biogas volume. Gas scrubbing is carried out using prescribed and/or adjustable contact surfaces between the biogas and the scrubbing oil.
