The multi-stage reduction gear consists of a selector shaft (1) and at least one sliding selector shaft (2). One of the gear-selector elements is locked by a lock in at least one position corresponding to a gear selected. The lock comprises a locking-sleeve (11) fixed to the gear-switch element, and a blocking element (12) mounted on the housing-side. The blocking element, in the form of a bolt (13), engages with a cavity in the locking-sleeve.
