PURPOSE: An image quality improving apparatus is provided to restrain a noise included in an image and a crosstalk due to an imperfect Y/C separation. CONSTITUTION: A decoder(50) divides an image signal into a luminance signal and a color signal. A color size detector(80) detects a size of a color signal among a signal output from the decoder(50). A color removing section(70) removes a corresponding color-difference signal when a size of a color-difference signal detected by a color size detector(80). A noise removal and definition processor(60) removes a color signal component and a noise remaining a luminance signal among signals output from the decoder(50). A low pass filter outputs the first signal and the second signal having a noise and an edge.
