3-(Hydrocarbyl, aryl or heterocyclyl)-1,2,4-benzotriazine derivatives (I) are new. 3-(hydrocarbyl, aryl or heterocyclyl)-1,2,4-benzotriazine derivatives of formula (I) are new. A = a ring of formula (a) or (b); n = 0 or 1; R1 = 1-22C saturated or mono- or poly-unsaturated hydrocarbyl (optionally substituted with 1 or more halo, O, OH, NH2, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, morpholino and/or alkylamino; optionally substituted aryl), or heterocyclyl; R2-R5 = H, halo, NO2, NH2, OH, 1-6C alkyl or 1-6C alkoxy. Independent claims are also included for preparations of compounds (I).
