IMAGE CODER AND BUFFER CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An image coder and a buffer control method thereof are provided to prevent the underflow of a buffer. CONSTITUTION: A camera input section(300) converts an image signal from a camera into a digital signal and outputs it as image data. A video source coder(301) compresses the image data from the camera input section(300) and outputs video coding data. A variable length coder(302) variable-length-codes the video coding data and outputs coded data. A buffer(304) stores the coded data from the variable length coder(302). A buffer status analyzer(303) analyzes data amount stored in the buffer(304) and generates a control signal to prevent the underflow. A mobile station modem chip interface(305) intercepts an output request of image data from an external device when the buffer status analyzer(303) generates a control signal to prevent a buffer reading.
