The catheterization aid (10) has a handle (12) joined to a shaft (14) on which is a U-shaped brace (16), the free ends (30) of which have outward-pointing extensions (32) for splaying apart the patient's labia. The shaft has an angled section (28) forming an angle of 90 degrees with the brace. The extensions are in the form of plates with a distal underneath surface (34) resting against the patient's vulva.
