Joint seal for buildings consists of a sealing material for suction-closing a joint which is inserted pre-compressed into the joint. The sealing material remains pre-compressed and dry in the joint but expands in the joint when liquid is applied. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of joint seal for buildings. Preferred Features: The liquid is applied by spraying. The sealing material consists of or is impregnated with flame retardant material. The liquid is a fireproof liquid containing expanded graphite.
