A lighting unit 10 suitable for use in an array of paving blocks has an upper face 14 with substantially the same dimensions as the paving blocks used and which lies substantially flush with the paving block upper faces, side faces shaped so as not to foul on adjacent paving blocks and a power inlet point on its bottom face. The bottom face (20, fig. 4) has a plurality of locations for receiving a power supply (18, fig. 4), which may be covered by removable covers (eg knock out covers). The section of the bottom face receiving the power supply 30 may be inclined to allow easy connection with the power supply lead (16, fig. 4). The body portion 26 has ribs 34 to for strength and to separate it from adjacent paving blocks. |
