1,071,845. Gas lighters. WIEDEN & CO. G.m.b.H. July 1, 1964 [July 15, 1963], No. 27210/64. Heading F4F. A filling valve for a gas lighter has a member 5 biased by spring 6 to press gasket 14 against the conical mouth 16 of the valve housing to close the valve, the member 5 having an axial bore 12 terminating in two transverse bores 10, 11. To fill the lighter the valve element of a refill bottle is placed over the end of member 5 which is pushed down against spring 6 to move the gasket away from mouth 16; any positive pressure in the lighter discharges along path 20, 20; when member 5 is depressed to its fullest extent liquid gas flows through the bores in member 5 and sprays on to the conical surface of mouth 16, a liquid screen being formed to prevent gas escaping along paths 20, 20 until the level of liquid gas reaches the transverse bores. Leaking gas then indicates that the lighter is full.
|
