Single-chain antibodies recognizing the human vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2/KDR)

The invention relates to specific single-chain antibodies (scFv's) recognizing the human vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2/KDR) which show no crossreactivity to the human VEGF-receptor 1 (VEGFR-1). The scFv's have clinical application as a marker for angiogenesis in cryosections of different human tissues and may be used as a tool for FACS analysis and cell sorting of vascular endothelial cells, progenitor cells and hematopoitic stem cells, which are positive for VEGFR-2 gene expression.
