PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut the residual trunk of a tobacco-plant into pieces all having a specific length. SOLUTION: A residual trunk-disposal apparatus is composed of plural disks 6, 6,... installed under a shifted condition to one another in the vertical direction on a vertical cutting shaft 5, rotary knives 7 each attached in such a way as to protrude from the outer periphery of each of the disks 6, 6,... and stationary knives 8 each installed in the lateral position of each of the disks 6, 6,... on the downstream side of the rotational direction of the rotary knife 7. The cutting portion of the knife 7 overlaps with that of the knife 8 when viewed in a plane and also the cutting portions rotate in an adjacent condition. When the residual trunk 12 of a tobacco-plant planted in a ridge is fed from the front side, the trunk 12 is first caught by the peripheries of the disks 6, 6,... under a shifted condition to one another in the vertical direction, and the trunk 12 is next sent by the cutting portion of the knife 7 to the downstream side of rotation under a condition that the trunk 12 is supported by both of the periphery of the disk 6 and the cutting portion of the knife 7 in such a way that the trunk 12 is cut by the cutting portions of the knives 7 and 8 into pieces all having a specific length.
