A drum filter for thickening lime sludge in which lime sludge is thickened o n a filter layer (pre-coat) (26) formed of the lime sludge. The filter is provid ed with nozzles (20, 22) continuously reciprocating in the longitudinal direction of the drum (2) in such a way that, during each rotation, part of the filtering lay er is detached and drops into the vat (12).
