PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet the recent demand for an actuator capable of attaining a large moving quantity (a large amount of strain) using a material with high workability, attendant on the miniaturization of electronic equipment and the increase in the efficiency of medical appliances and various manufacturing equipment. SOLUTION: In the supermagnetostrictive alloy, the rate of ordering is regulated to 0.6-0.95 by applying heat treatment to an alloy represented by Fe3-xPt1+x (where -0.02<=x<=0.2 is satisfied). The supermagnetostrictive alloy having >=0.3%, particularly >=0.5%, of amount of magnetostriction can be obtained by subjecting a stock of the Fe3-xPt1+x alloy to homogenizing annealing and then to heating treatment at 700-1,000 K for 0.5-600 h. |
