PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength steel sheet for heat shrink band, excellent in geomagnetic shielding property and having >=30 kgf/mm2 yield stress (YP) while maintaining sufficient geomagnetic shielding property, and also to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The steel sheet for heat shrink band has a composition which consists of, by weight, 0.01-0.1% C, <=1% Si, <=2% Mn, <=0.1% P, <=0.02% S and the balance essentially Fe and in which the contents of C, Si, Mn and P satisfy inequality 60×[wt.% C]+8×[wt.% Si]+3×[wt.% Mn]+62×[wt.% P]>=10 and also has >=15,000 non-hysteresis magnetic permeability at 0.35 Oe. This steel sheet can be obtained by subjecting a cold rolled steel sheet with the above composition to annealing at 600-800 deg.C or further to overaging treatment at 250-500 deg.C and then to temper rolling at <=1.5% (including 0%) rolling rate.
