PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process that produces easily an alkylbenzenesulfonate, restricting formation of the by-product. SOLUTION: A liquid alkylbenzene and a sulfonation agent are fed continuously into the chemical reactor which is equipped with an agitating blade, in this chemical reactor the both materials are continuously reacted at the condition of 10-4000 N/cm2 of the shearing stress without the solvent. According to this production process, the formation of the by-product is restricted, when the number of alkyl groups is one, a para(p-) oriented alkyl benzenesulfonate is easily produced with high selectivity.
