PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thin and miniaturize an escalator. SOLUTION: A step 4 of an escalator device 1 comprises step plates 5 and spacer plates 6 layered on each other. The spacer plates 6 are projected in the front of the step 4, and the step plates 5 are protruded in the rear of the step 4. The front edge sections of the spacer plates 6 of the rear step 4 out of two steps 4 ranging in the longitudinal direction of the escalator device 1 range in the cross direction meshed with the step plates 5 of the rear section of the front step 4. The steps 4 hold each of top plates 8 horizontally and is driven and circulated facing upward. The step plates 5 and the spacer plates 6 are made of synthetic resin.
