<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black suitable for using in paint, etc., and excellent in the balance of properties such as blackness, gloss, fluidity, etc. SOLUTION: This carbon black is (1) one having an average particle diameter of not greater than 16 nm, a ratio of D1/2/Dmod of not greater than 0.6, and a volatile matter per unit surface area of not lower than 0.35 mg/m2, and (2) one having an average particle diameter of not greater than 16 nm, a ratio of D1/2/Dmod of not greater than 0.6, a ratio of IA (mg/g)/N2SA (m2/g) of not greater than 0.5, and IA (mg/g)<volatile matter (mg/g)+0.1×N2SA (m2/g). wherein IA represents iodine adsorption quantity, and N2SA represents nitrogen adsorption specific surface area.</p> |
