PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing a water insoluble solid organic compound such as solid organic peroxide in low impurities and good yield. SOLUTION: By the reaction of a water insoluble raw organic compound (A) such as acid chloride or formic acid ester chloride with a water soluble raw compound (B) such as hydroperoxide, peroxide and their water soluble salt in a water solvent, the water insoluble organic compound such as solid organic peroxide is prepared. In this preparation, the water insoluble solid organic compound can be obtained in a good yield and low impurities by carrying out the above reaction in the presence of an organic solvent in which the phase separates when the solubility of the water insoluble solid organic compound product(C) is smaller than the raw organic compound (A).
