PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an elevator capable of conducting smooth speed control even in service interruption with a low capacity, less expensive power storage device. SOLUTION: This control device of the elevator is equipped with a converter 2; an inverter 4; the power storage device 11 installed between DC bus bars; a charge/discharge control circuit 15 for controlling the charge/discharge of the power storage device; a service interruption detector 22; a current instrument 23 and a voltage instrument 24 for detecting the output current and the output voltage of the inverter; a car load instrument 25; an encoder 20; a speed control circuit 21A for controlling the inverter; and a table in which a necessary power corresponding to speed and a car load is set, and the speed control device 21A finds, when service interruption is detected, the necessary power from the table based on the car load measured value and the detected speed, and also finds a speed instruction for controlling speed within a range of a dischargeable power based on the output power of the inverter and the comparison of the necessary power and the dischargeable power of the power storage device.
