PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acidic carbon black very efficiently which is produced to prevent it from caking and can be dispersed to appear highly pitch-dark in any use of composition. SOLUTION: The method for producing an acidic carbon black is characterized in that a carbon black is dispersed in an air stream containing nitric acid, so that the carbon black and the nitric acid gas may be mixed to contact with each other.
