PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent one-sided hoisting of a container to carry out working safely, in a container spreader applied to a container carrier, a container hoisting machine or the like and used for hoisting the container up. SOLUTION: This spreader is composed of a spreader main body 2, a twist lock 3, a landing detector 4 and a suspension detector 5. The detector 5 is provided, in particular, to detect a suspended position where the twist lock 3 is hooked to a hook hole B of the container A to be lowered by a prescribed distance from a landing position.
