PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical instrument capable of transmitting only the positional information of a medical instrument tip without generating the unnecessary artifact of the medical instrument inserted to a cavity inside an organism at the time of diagnosing and treatment performed by using an open type MRI system and the medical instrument inserted to the cavity inside the organism. SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element 27 installed at the tip of this medical instrument generates a photocurrent 17 of a magnitude proportional to the intensity of emitted light 16, and when the photocurrent 17 flows through a coil 24 and a coil 25, magnetic fields 18 and 19 are generated around the respective coils. In this case, the number of the turns of the coil 25 is made larger than the one of the coil 24, and hence the magnetic field generated at the coil 25 becomes larger than the coil 24. Thus, in the open type MRI system, the position image of the coil 24 is screen-displayed with brightness different from that of the position image of the coil 25. Then, from display images, the position and direction of the tip part of the medical instrument are recognized. |
