PURPOSE:To provide a hot-melt ink composition which comprises colorants and a specific vehicle and can form an image on the recording paper by applying thermal energy selectively to the ink composition into its molten state, converting the melt into drops and allowing them to fly to the paper. CONSTITUTION:The objective hot-melt ink composition comprises (A) more than 20wt.%, preferably more than 30wt.% of a compound which is solid at normal temperature and has a melting point and a boiling point where the weight reduction-starting point by evaporation after molten is more than 5 deg.C higher than the melting point, preferably trimethylolpropane, more than 40wt.% of a compound melting at 60 deg.C or higher, boiling at 150 to 300 deg.C, preferably methylsulfone or imidazole, (B) 0.1 to 20wt.%, preferably 0.5 to 5wt.%, of colorants (dyes) or 0.1 to 10wt.% of pigments, when needed, further tackifier and binder resin, plasticizer, antioxidant and the like. The composition can form images on the recording paper by applying thermal energy selectively in order to the molten ink, making the melt into drops and allowing them to fly onto the recording paper. |
