PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance certainty, stability and reliability in protecting a drive motor and to avoid decreases in molding quality and productivity flexibly corresponding to an actual molding state. SOLUTION: A method for controlling a motor driven injection molding machine comprises the steps of monitoring a heating state of a driver 2c using the drive motor Mc, obtaining an estimated heating amount of the motor Mc from a load current Ic supplied to the motor Mc when molded in the case of controlling to stop the motor Mc when the driver 2c arrives at an overload state, and controlling to stop the motor Mc when the obtained estimated heating amount arrives at a preset stop set value Xs or thermostats 3c, 4c attached to the driver 2c output an overload detection signal based on the overload state.
