PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formed article of an expanded resin free from the troubles of the deterioration of a nonwoven polyester fabric used as a filter medium in the case of using the expanded resin as a material for a formed resin article such as a casing of an air cleaner and the generation of a compound causing the problem of explosion, etc., even in the case of using the article in a closed space. SOLUTION: The objective formed article of an expanded resin is produced at least by using a resin and a chemical foaming agent mixed into the resin. The chemical foaming agent does not generate ammonia in and after foaming and has a decomposition temperature lower than the molding temperature of the resin. The formed article of the expanded resin is used as a casing of a filter produced by using a nonwoven polyester fabric as the filter medium.
