PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low and secure upper cover for a document shredder requiring less area for installation. SOLUTION: This upper cover 11 is equipped with a housing divided into a lower part 2 and an upper part 4, in a cabinet shape, a cutting unit 6 having a cutting roller and a cleaner, and a driving unit 5. A passage space 10 for feeding a paper waste is formed at an upper part of the cutting unit 6. The upper cover 11 is disposed on an upper part of the passage space 10. The upper cover 11 forms an accommodating space for the paper waste with an upper area of the upper part 4 of the housing. The accommodating space communicates with the passage space 10. More specifically, the upper cover 11 is equipped with a cover unit 20 opening and closing a feeding port 17 and a migration area between the accommodating space and the passage space 10 alternately, and a means for operating and controlling at least a part of the cover unit 20.
