PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily set a driving condition by considering a condition in a side of a recorder at an arbitrary time point. SOLUTION: A width of a driving pulse is set to a maximum value on the designing on the basis of a kind of a recording head mounted on the recorder (S51) and a pattern for measuring an ejection limit is recorded on the recording medium by the set pulse (S52). The width of the driving pulse is set to a value which is shorter than the original in a predetermined value and is in a lower rank by one (S53). The processes from S52 to S54 are repeated until the width of the driving pulse becomes a value lower than the minimum value of the pulse for measuring the ejection limit. An identification symbol corresponding to a pattern whereby 'blur' indicative of defective ejection of ink is visually observed from the recorded result is inputted as an ejection limit (S55).
