PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine allowing a player to play a variable display game and giving interest to the player on the pattern fluctuation time of a gain standby state in particular. SOLUTION: The gain standby mode (gain standby A) having the highest appearance frequency among a plurality of gain standby modes starts the gain standby action at an early stage of the pattern stop time (Ta+Tb) of pattern display parts L1, L2 displaying the gain standby patterns in a normal variable display mode (normal), i.e., after the time (Td+Te) elapses, thus allowing the player to discriminate the mode (normal) or the mode (gain standby A) at the initial stage of the variable display.
