PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very efficient scum skimmer in which the whole range of sucking action caused in an overflow section of a weir is remarkably restricted and return water can be reduced even when the surface of sewage is fluctuated. SOLUTION: In this scum skimmer consisting of a gutter member 12 and a weir member, at least one flow rate regulation means for allowing a prescribed amount of scum-containing water to flow out or damming up the scum- containing water, is placed in the vicinity of the scum-containing water surface 33 on the downstream side of the gutter member 12, and also the amount of outflow of the scum-containing water from this at least one flow rate regulation means is set so as to be that almost equal to the amount of overflow water at a depth of the overflow water, preset as the depth of a floating scum layer, and while retaining the scum-containing water inside the gutter member 12 so that a back pressure is always applied to the overflow water in an overflow section of the weir member, the scum-containing water is allowed to flow out from the flow rate regulation means.
