CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD FOR STEEL AND MOLD POWDER USED THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method for steel and mold powder used therefor which enable one to obtain a sound quality casting piece without any defect on its surface and without causing any operating trouble such as a breakout even when a round casting piece with a small cross section size is produced. SOLUTION: A continuous casting for steel is performed with a mold powder whose viscosity is more than 0.8 Pa.S in 1573K, basicity expressed by CaO/SiO2 (by weight) is 0.3-1.5 and crystallized temperature is more than 1273K.
