POLYMER BINDER FOR INK-JET INK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer binder for forming an ink-jet ink with a colorant which ink offers improved print qualities concerning to one or more qualities used to decide print qualities and having no significant harmful effect on any other properties used to decide printing qualities. SOLUTION: This polymer binder is preferable for an ink composition containing a colorant and a polymer binder wherein the polymer binder is an addition copolymer obtained by emulsion polymerization and is formed from a monomer mixture containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer and the monomer mixture contains 4-15 wt.% at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid functional monomer based on the mixture weight and 0.05-5 wt.% at least one polymerizable surfactant monomer containing a hydrophobic group and a hydrophilic group based on the mixture weight, wherein the hydrophobic group contains a polymerizable group therein.
