PURPOSE: A deciding method of a power on/off for an automatic transmission is provided to decide the power on/off according to a relation among an operated status of a damper clutch, an engine RPM(Rotation Per Minute) and a turbine RPM. CONSTITUTION: The operated status of a damper clutch is decided according to the operated statuses of an accelerator and an automatic transmission(S110). The subtracted value of an engine RPM from a turbine RPM is compared with a set value. The change value of a throttle valve is compared with a set value(S130). A power is off if the subtracted value is over the set value and the change value of the throttle valve is below the set value(S140). Otherwise, the power is on. Thereby, an abnormal shift shock is improved in an immature acceleration of a driver. Moreover, the reliability of a shift control is improved.
