The invention is directed to a technique for, while listening to an audio device, being able to download (46) and compress (48) the currently played song to a local memory (24) or removable memory (26) even if the song is partial by completed. To accomplish this, the technique begins storing each song in a buffer (22) as the song starts. Then, at any time during the song, the user may elect to download the song since the song is stored in the buffer (22). The buffer (22) may be refreshed at the begining of each song. |
