摘要 The present invention relates to a process for selective oxidation of a sulfide by the use of lithium molibdenate niobate (LiNbMoO6) - hydrogen peroxide oxidant system to the corresponding sulfoxide or sulfone compound within a few hours under the condition of controlling the amount of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of alcohol solvent. The process for oxidizing a sulfide according to the present invention has economic advantage in view of the application for industrial use as well as in a laboratory scale because the process is carried out under mild condition, comprising of simple procedure, and the reactants are easy to handle. In particular, allylic sulfides having double bond(s) of high electron density by alkyl substitution or extended conjugation, which are apt to be attacked by electrophilic oxidants, can be subjected to selective oxidation to sulfones or sulfoxides without oxidation of the double bond(s), according to the present invention.
