1-chloro-4-[4-(alkylthio)phenoxy]-benzenes of formula (I) can be obtained when potassium salts, rubidium salts and/or cesium salts, optionally mixed with sodium salts of a 4-alkylthio-phenol of formula (II), are reacted with a 4-chlorohalobenzene of formula (III) in the presence of a cuprous catalyst. In formulas (I), (II) and (III): R<1> represents C1-C5 alkyl; R<2> to R<5>, independent of one another, represent hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl; M represents potassium, rubidium and/or cesium, optionally mixed with sodium, and; X represents chlorine, bromine or iodine. |
