PURPOSE: A peptide having excellent antibacterial and antifungal activity and obtained by addition, deletion and substitution of amino acid to peptides having strong antibacterial and antifungal activity is provided which can be easily mass-produced and has low side effects such as cell lysis. CONSTITUTION: The peptide has the formula of(I):X¬1X¬2X¬3X¬4X¬5X¬6X¬7X¬8X¬9X¬10 and is prepared by synthetic or genetic engineering methods. In formula, X¬1 does not exist or, is one or two basic amino acid. An antibacterial and antifungal composition contains the peptide as an effective component and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
