The method involves producing a document with a machine-readable code for each business event. The code is used for the acquisition of documentary data regarding the business event in the form of a booking record. Data are read from a supplier-generated document with machine-readable code and used directly as a booking record or for generating further documents. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of monitoring the sales and/or purchases of business events.
