A disinfectant for controlling ectoparasites on fish and crustaceous animal is described. The disinfectant is an aqueous solution of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, wherein the ratio by weight of hydrogen peroxide : peracetic acid is less 1:10. The use of disinfectant for controlling ectoparasites, such as <i>Gyrodactyloids sp</i>, especially Gyrodactyloides <i>salaris</i>, <i>Trichodina sp</i>, <i>Ichthyobodo necator (I. necator)</i>, <i>Costia sp.</i>, <i>Arulus sp.</i> and other flatworm species. Methods for controlling ectoparasites are also described. |
