Impact oscillation induced from product striking the weighing element is eliminated to decrease the weighing time. Movement of the weighting element (30) is temporarily arrested by a moveable stop (40) as the product is introduced into the hopper (22). The weighing element (30) is then released in a controlled manner so that the product can be weighed and released.
