THERMO-PLASTIC RESIN COMPOSITION USEABLE IN PRODUCTION OF SECONDARY BATTERY SEPARATOR

PURPOSE: A thermo-plastic resin composition is provided to utilize it in the production of microporous membrane for a separator of secondary battery by replacing conventional polyethylene resin with the resin and desired polar polymer and blending accelerator. CONSTITUTION: The resin composition comprises polyethylene base resin, 1-20 wt.% of polar polymer and a copolymer of ethylene and polar monomer having the formula (wherein m is an integer more than 1, n is an integer more than 1, R is selected from -OH, -Cl or -COOCH3 and R2 is -H or -CH3) and a blending accelerator. The polar polymer is a mixture of at least one or two or more selected from polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol or polymethyl methacrylate. The composition can show better physical property and pore structural feature than general polyethylene and excellent impregnation ability to the electrolyte to minimize the resistance of the separator at applying the composition to lithium battery.
