The aeration method produces a monodispersion of spherical gas bubbles with a diameter of 0.1 - 100 microns. The bubbles are the same diameter with a deviation of +/- 0.01 - 30 %. A source stream of gas (71) is forced through a pressure chamber (74) holding a liquid (73) to an exit port (77). The gas surrounded by liquid flows out into another liquid (75) to break up into uniform bubbles (79). Preferred Features: The gas used is air, oxygen or carbon dioxide and may be contaminated with a compound soluble in the fluid. The fluid is an aqueous fluid such as sewage. The liquid (73) in the pressure chamber is a solution, a suspension or an emulsion to give very regular size bubbles (+/- 5 %, preferably less than 1 %). The feeding needle exit port and pressure chamber exit port have diameter of 0.002 - 2 (0.01 - 0.25) mm.
