METHOD FOR SETTING BIT ERROR PROBABILITY REFERENCE VALUE IN WIRE/WIRELESS IMAGE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for setting a bit error probability reference value in a wire/wireless image communication system is provided to efficiently support an image service by differently setting a bit error probability reference value in packets. CONSTITUTION: A video encoder outputs and divides a coded image data into a packet unit(11,12). An important degree of the divided image packet is judged(13). An estimated distortion value is calculated(14). The wireless channel passing number of a packet is calculated(15). A BEP reference value of each packet is determined based on a BEP reference according to a kind of a service(16,17). A forward error correcting method guarantees the BEP reference value of each packet in wire or wireless section(18). The BEP reference value of each packet is transmitted together with image information to a switch or a router, a base station or a mobile station(19).
